Golden Milk

I would dare say that this is the best recipe for golden milk! I learned to make it while traveling in India while studying Ayurveda.

Golden milk is one of my favorite hot beverages to drink during the winter season and I would dare say that this is the best recipe for golden milk! Actually, I learned to make it while traveling in India when I was studying Ayurveda (bringing me such lovely memories).

This beverage is made mainly with turmeric, which is perfect for cold days, as it has been linked with anti-inflammatory properties (I did a video explaining some of the benefits of this spice, find it at the end of this post). Also, golden milk is excellent to drink before sleeping or as a calming-promoting relaxing drink.

To make golden milk you are going to need the following ingredients:

  • Milk: here, you have many options. The best one, by far, is the raw whole milk. It can be cows, sheep, or goats. To find raw milk near your home, please visit some local stores and farmer’s markets or search for milk production farms nearby. Also, here is a website where you can find raw. The second best option is whole milk, pasteurized (not ultra-pasteurized). The best non-dairy option is natural coconut milk.
  • Ginger: you can use grated natural ginger or powder. Obviously, by using natural ingredients, the flavor and aroma are enhanced.
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Black pepper: As I do not eat night-shades, I skip the black pepper. If you don’t have any trouble with it, keep it for a spicy taste!
  • Sweetener: you can use any sweetener of your choice. I like maple syrup, but I recommend something other than heating the raw honey.

In terms of equipment, you will need something to heat the milk and a stirring device.

I hope you love this recipe as much as I do! 🙂

Let’s start.
